Comenius Regio

Regional Partnerships

The aims of the Comenius Regio is to support the European educational dimension by promoting cooperation between European local and regional education authorities, to implement the objectives of the Comenius programme, and consequently to enrich the learning opportunities for students.

Partnerships in Comenius Regio gives an opportunity for mutual learning, exchanging ideas, and developing bases for international cooperation including that of neighbouring countries.

The main audiences for Comenius Regio Partnerships are local government entities representing communities, districts or provinces, and local educational authorities in cooperation with at least one school entitled to participate in Comenius and at least one educational institution or organisation, such as youth clubs, sports clubs, parents associations, local teacher training institutions, businesses or museums.

The partnership consists of two consortiums (including a local authority or local education Office, school and other organisations) from the two countries participating in the project "Lifelong learning". The precondition is that at least one country must be a member of the European Union.

Applications for funding such a project are submitted by local authorities or local education Office which act as regional coordinators and are responsible for financial settlement of the project.

Comenius Regio project topics may cover any subject, important for both cooperating parties, relating to school education, such as school management, school collaboration with local partners, early school leaving, enterprise, integration of migrant parents children.

Examples of the range of activities carried out in Regio Partnerships include:

  • Project meetings between all institutions involved in the partnership
